Job Purpose

Reporting into the Head of Marketing, the Category Manager owns and delivers winning marketing strategies for a portfolio of brands/categories, ensuring sales value & profit growth, and growing market share.

The role of the individual is to activate & execute the strategy for the portfolio of brands. Ensuring the growth of brands & categories through effective resource allocation and the management of an A&P budget. A key part of the role will be close cooperation with Head of Marketing and the Area Marketing Team as well as delivering objectives through Local partners’ brand managers team in order to ensure flawless execution of the strategy & plans with the ultimate goal of driving penetration and growing market share.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive the adoption of the 5 attributes of the new GSK Consumer Healthcare culture -- Consumer & Customer Obsessed, Agile, Growth Mindset, Execution Powerhouse, Data & Analytics @ the care.
  • Champion his/her portfolio of categories (including at least 2 Power Brands) to drive strategic agenda, effective resource allocation and cross-functional engagement internally / customer enthusiasm externally in 12 countries of direct responsibility. Responsible for contribution to the strategies and execution of plans for a portfolio of categories in his/her 12 LOCs in order to deliver brand growth by:
  • - clear and effective “where to play” and “how to win” strategies for portfolio of categories/countries driving effective resource allocation and x-functional & partner engagement behind aligned priorities; 

    - preparing inputs to MAPs (situation assessment, growth building blocks, local consumer/customer insights/needs), owning and executing these;

    - preparing inputs to annual media plans (including digital) and reviewing/adjusting media and promotional plans as appropriate throughout the year;

    - contributing to TV assets adaptation (e.g. support of translation and local approval), adopting digital assets and sharing these with media agency for execution as well as ongoing monitoring/adjustments;

    - own activation amplification in the LOC through PR and Influencers, aligning with the Area Marketing Team

    - managing the A&P budget for a portfolio of brands/categories

    - business reviews for a portfolio of brands/categories, distilling key learnings into recommended actions

  • Share in-depth knowledge of the portfolio of products, consumer/expert journeys and local insights as well as assets (KV) to enable internal and external Commex/Sales teams win in market.
  • Provide business case input to the Area Marketing Team for commercial and product innovation and enable LOC approval on DRM.
  • Active participation in CCC with focus on Consumption / performance updates / business reviewsForecast reviews: preparation (categories & brands consumption forecast) & participation;DRM reviews: prep & participation;A&P reviews;Price reviews;Own and lead local Artwork approval process for group of/categories
  • Requirements

  • Min Bachelor/Master Study (marketing, economics, management)
  • English is a must. Preference for additional Russian and Export Hub local languages
  • Proven experience in Marketing/Brand Management (preferably in Export Hub);
  • Cross functional experiences or partnering with Sales and Commercial Excellence functions to customize winning tactics to win in market
  • Strong interpersonal capabilities:Proficient communication skills (both direct face-to-face and remote);Expert in influencing / delivery through others and collaborative working;
  • Actionable Business Development capability:Proficient business and digital commerce understanding & insight;Expert shopper understanding & insight.
  • Value Creation & Drive for Accelerated Growth:Goal orientation and problem solving, decision making skills;Proficient commercial acumen including measurement of execution and drive for acceleration initiatives.
  • Strong project management skills – prioritization and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
